The incident was recorded in his civil war pentioners application, described as follows: After we were mustered in the confederate army on Mar 1, 1862 in Houston County, we were ordered to report to Little Rock AK, and while on the way we camped near Tyler Texas. And while we were encamped there, the applicant lost his arm by the accidental dicharge of his gun, while on duty as a sentinel and soon after he was discharged from the army. |
